00091 - Disk Navigator data collection takes a long time on our system. (53)
Like all disk space analysis tools, our Disk Navigator collects information about all objects on the system. The 'path=/qsys.lib' parameter in the DISKNAV data collection job controls the starting point for this process on the Integrated File System (IFS). Changing this parameter to 'path=/' will significantly increase the duration of the DISKNAV job because now all objects on the IFS, including /QSYS.LIB are being analyzed. If looking at just the QSYS objects still takes a long time, try limiting the data collection more using the 'limit=1' parameter. Adding this to the end of the 'Parameters' string in our 'Automated Scheduling' screens will tell this data collector to only collect information on objects that are at least 1 megabyte in size. Try setting it to 'limit=10' or 'limit=100' to reduce the focus of this process.

Typically, 80% of your disk space is consumed by 20% of your objects. These larger objects are the ones you are looking for anyway. This change not only helps decrease the run time for the DISKNAV job, it will also dramatically reduce the amount of DASD consumed by the Disk Navigator tool. If these options still don't get the duration of this job inside of your processing window, please contact us to figure out some new ideas and ways to meet your expectations.
